The benefits of becoming an ASME member:

ASME is one of the oldest professional engineering societies known as one of the Founder Societies. The society consists of several technical groups that allow members to stay current with today’s fast-paced technology. Becoming a member of a professional society allows individuals to meet their professional and business needs. Student members can expand their horizons and broaden their education in group dynamics and communication skills while constructing a professional network. ASME provides a wide range of technical, professional, educational, and public policy activities to its members and serves all levels of mechanical engineers. ASME at USC provides a wide range of opportunities to serve the needs of its members, including:
  • Social Functions such as cookouts, tailgates, Wally World, and Six Flags allow members to meet and interact with each other and faculty
  • Tours of local Plants and Companies to introduce members to promote interest of professions available and construct a professional network
  • Regional and National Student Conferences allow members to compete in poster and oral presentations, design competitions, and develop communications skills
  • Service Activities which allow students to dedicate their time to serve the public good

  • Membership dues are $25 for renewing members and new members, unless the individual is in his/her first year of college, then the membership dues are $5 for the first year
