After being inserted several miles behind enemy lines, the Lamonian special ops team prepared themselves for the biggest mission yet: Catalyze the implosion of the Novvs Atlantian Empire.

Each member of the 12 man team carried a vile full of the new Lamonian viral agent, codenamed "Carnifex". The mission was simple. The spec ops team was to infiltrate priority public places. Water treatment plants, food stores, malls, giant corporations, the like. All were targets of the mission.

The mission would carry on for several days as the viral agent was setup all across Novvs Atlantis. Luckily no teams were caught. The last day of the mission, however, was going to prove extremely tough. All five spec ops teams were to attempt to infiltrate the city of Nova Roma and setup the vials. A total of 60 men were going to attempt to bring down the largest and most prestigious city in all of Atlantian Oceania...

The strike forces moved along the shadows of the city's wall, scanning the top for activity. A recent air strike on the power stations to the north had cut power to the city but the team leaders knew security would be at an all time high.

Alpha team readied grappling hooks into their all-purpose rifles and fired. The sound of a BB-gun firing accompanied 12 hooks latching onto the battlements of the walls. The members latched the ends of the ropes to their belts and began scaling the walls, rifles in hand. A small perimeter was established as Alpha team secured the wall. No guards were in sight.

40 minutes later the rest of teams were rappelling down the wall, still with no sign of resistance.

"If only Lamoni had made it this far into enemy territory, this city would fall within hours."

Alpha team leader thought to himself. Radio silence had been issued, so after the teams split up they would have no way of keeping in touch. Unfortunately that would prove to be their biggest mistake.

After Echelon team touched the ground a wave of hand signals indicated which ways the teams would go. Alpha and Beta teams would move to the north and then split up to take the water treatment plant and Forvm Romanvm respectively. Charlie team would move east near the Forvm Marcellvm and the NovaTech HQ. Delta team would move south to the Colossevm and Echelon team would move west to the Circvs Maximvs. After they had successfully planted their vials the teams would regroup at the Citadel and attempt to poison the Imperator with an overdose of Succinylcholine.

The 12 team members crept slowly along the ground, sticking to the walls of the Circvs Maximvs. All eyes were trained forward until the team reached one of the side doors of the massive racing complex. A breaching charge was placed on the door and detonated. The door burst open and the team moved in. A head count was made... Only 11 team members. The team fanned out.

"Johnson! Johnson! Where the hell are you!?"

Unfortunately fanning out was just what the Praetorians wanted the Lamonians to do. The 11th team member soon found his jugular cut in two. The 10th discovered a silenced pistol pressed against the back of his skull and before he could fathom a thought as to what to do, he was dead. Three other team members suffered broken-neck syndrome. The remaining seven members frantically tried to cover all of their blind spots but that only resulted in more deaths. Four more Lamonians lay on the ground, their throats slit or their skulls punctured by bullets. The last three formed together.

A Praetorian sniper cleaned his scope and zoomed in on two of the Lamonians. His Vaime SSR-1 pierced both of their skulls and they dropped dead. The three Praetorians that decimated the Lamonian task force emerged from the shadows, guns shouldered. The remaining operative opened fire on the nearest Praetorian. The bullets pinged off of his armor and did nothing to stop the advance. The sniper switched to his P-90 and fired an aircoil at the operative, knocking him unconscious. The Praetorians quickly carried the man back to the Citadel and into the hospital there.

Elsewhere around Nova Roma, the other Praetorians were having similar results. Of the 60 men that entered Nova Roma only 5 survived, and only because they were permitted to by the Praetorians.

The five Lamonians were each contained in a seperate cell. They had awakened only minutes ago and all of them attempted to commit suicide. Unfortunately, their teeth containing the cyanide capsules had been removed and the only result of gnashing their teeth together was an extremely sharp pain in their jaws. They would be interrogated shortly. However, it was too late. Lamonian high command would only wait a day before they triggered the countdown sequence.

"Imperator, we have discovered vials of an unknown biological agent on the Lamonian scum. We have reason to believe they have planted these vials all around our nation in attempt to destroy us from within. We also found several vials of Succinylcholine, in extremely lethal dosages. We believe they were going to poison you, Caesar."

The Praetorian finished his analysis of the infiltration with a salute and walked back to his post. Siricvs, however, collapsed into his chair as reports streamed in of entire cities dropping dead.

A few hours later, a massive quarantine was initiated. No one could enter or leave Nova Roma without a level IX security clearance order from the Imperator himself, and even then you had to be scrubbed clean and made sure you weren't contaminated before you could even enter the city.

Food, water, oil, all of the resources that make a nation run were rationed within the city. In the end, only 16 million people remained ten million in Nova Roma and the other six million scattered about the ruined nation; over one billion people lay dead. The Imperator issued an immediate recall of the legions in Lamoni. They were to fall back to an allied base and remain there until Novvs Atlantis was cleansed of the virus.

No doubt would the war effort collapse with this event. Most likely Lamoni would expect unconditional surrender. The Imperator expected he would be forced into exile. He worried, however, about the fate of his people. Who would rule the ruin? Anarchy would ensue without a strong figurehead, something the enemy wouldn't be able to install quickly.

Anarchy? The fools in Emagol would jump at the chance. If he was forced into exile, if the fools did try to force the nation into anarchy, the city of Nova Roma would stand against it.

Barracks, bunkers, airfields and runways, a commercial port, naval shipyard, plenty of ammo, huge walls, the Mars and Ivpiter defense grids just outside the city... If the fighting got inside the city... It would be brutal. The Cohors Vrbanvs was specialized in urban warfare and the Praetorians? The Imperator laughed out loud. The streets would be drenched in blood if the enemy breached the walls.

Yes. Nova Roma could hold out against an attack if the enemy attempted to take it.

But what about the virus? Reports indicated that it was airborne... but if all of its hosts were dead? The enemy wouldn't risk it. Over a billion dead bodies lying around? If the virus could be transmitted from them then Lamoni and her accompanying fools would let Novvs Atlantis be.

The virus and over a billion dead. AO had yet to experience such a loss of life. Even the glassing of Tachbe resulted in only the deaths of several hundred million. But a billion people? There would be outrage.

The economy was crippled, that was for sure... But the economy of Novvs Atlantis was certainly one of the most if not the most powerful in the region... Without the backing of the Novvs Atlantian denarivs... Who knows what would happen to the regional stock markets?

Maybe the Imperator would win this war after all, even if he had lost the military aspect of it.

OOC: Maybe you forgot, but bio weapons are illegal by UN mandate. Oh, next time you do something like this, please get my permission for use of my troops.
