I plan on expanding and updating this when I have more time, but here is a brief overview of Ulzaxids biology. More about their society and so on will be coming later.

They are composed of five separate individually intelligent organisms: a slime mold, a ferret-like thing, a monkey-like thing, a dolphin-like thing, and an eagle-like thing. The slime mold can secrete an enzyme that allows it to morph together with any living organism. As such the organism can come together with as many or as few pieces of the whole as it likes, and could combine with other organisms (people and so on) as well. However, in general most combinations are only done with willing intelligent participants.

Because of the shared brain and body functions when they are in a whole the organisms are able to learn at an expanded rate and recover more quickly than regular creatures. When they separate off into separate pieces anything learned during that time is automatically transferred to the other members of the whole when they come back together. Also they are all able to understand the natural sound patterns of each other. Furthermore the slime mold is telapathic, so they, or any combinations can communicate with each other telapathically.
