Official Communique to All Nations of Atlantian Oceania:

The Honored Leader, High Priestess and High Council of the Sacred Land of Ainorpisp wish to make known amongst the international community their nation's findings from recent exploration. Vessels of the Navy have recently transported explorers from the National Bureau of Science to the two islands to the immediate northeast of Ainorpisp. Their purpose, as written out in an official command from Honored Leader Kain, was to take a survey of the islands, compile information on the terrain and indigenous life, and present all findings to the NBS upon their return.

When they had first set out on this mission, none of our scientists had expected to discover that the islands already had some indigenous peoples. These peoples were discovered after an accidental run-in between an NBS team and the guardians of the societies on the islands. The warriors brought our scientists to their settlements and while the NBS team momentarily feared for their lives, they were soon pleasantly surprised. According to Dr. Andrew LeClerc, the team's leader, these strange people, "Were susprisingly most welcoming of us, and allowed us to enter their villages without harrassment or hesitation. Once they were assured we carried no weapons, they treated us as civilly as could be expected."

The citizens of the villages, which were discovered similarly on the other island the NBS landed on, did not dress as an average Ainorpispian would. Instead, in the words of Dr. Mei Lin Nguyen, "Dressed as though they had just stepped out of the feudal era of Japan and into the 21st century. Such a striking difference between styles of dress, architecture, and even weaponry is absolutely astounding to even the most open-minded of us." Buildings in the villages remarkably resembled traditional Japanese-style architecture, and even rice fields appeared to be maintained in a way not seen since the years of Japan's isolation. Everyone was dressed in appearantly feudal-era Japanese clothing, including the warriors who wore samurai armor and carried two blades.

After initial difficulties in communications, the NBS scientists realized that these people spoke a dialect of Japanese slightly off of the formal, main stream language. Interpreters were found, remarkably enough, amongst the same village denizens, some of whom had appearantly learned English from the occasional foreign fisherman. Intrigued by the cultures that seemed unchanged througought the years, the NBS teams sent messages to the Ainorpispian capital requesting a diplomat visit each island's leader.

Another thing the NBS teams and the Ainorpispian ambassador when she arrived also noticed, was that the newly-discovered people were slightly different than normal humans. They were slightly shorter than an average Ainorpispian and had pointed tips to their ears. When inquired of this, the natives responded that they had always appeared this way, and that one of the infrequently encountered fisherman had referred to them as 'elves'. The natives themselves did not refer to themselves as such, however.

Ainorpisp's diplomat, former mayor of Semaphore Natalia Sissoyev, engaged in talks with the leaders of each island's clan and extended the olive branch of peace on behalf of the Sacred Land. Just today, the International Relations Department offically received a decision reached by all three clan leaders. In the interests of both the native peoples of the islands and the Sacred Land of Ainorpisp, the islands wish to become incoporated into Ainorpisp, under the basic principles of:

1) That no large number of foreigners from the Ainorpispian mainland be allowed to intrude upon the islands without permission of the clan leaders.
2) That the Sacred Land of Ainorpisp vigilantly provide aide and assistance to the native peoples in times of need or crisis.
3) That while the clan leaders recognize the authority of the Honored Leader and High Priestess, they will themselves be allowed to retain local leadership on the islands.
4) That an exchange between cultures occur on a very small scale; one young person from each island and three young persons from Ainorpisp exchange places for a duration of one year. It is hoped this will bring about a greater understanding of our two different cultures, as well as an appreciation for them.
5) That the Ainorpispian Navy be allowed to patrol the area around the islands in order to protect them from any possible harm.
6) That the clan leaders visit Sarmatia once a year to report the status of their people and if need be, request assistance agreed upon as per agreement 2.

Honored Leader Elana Kain, High Priestess Alexandria I, and the High Council have accepted the terms of incorporation, and are ready and willing to welcome these native peoples as full citizens of Ainorpisp. Pending approval of the nations of the region, the Sacred Land of Ainorpisp wishes to add the islands into its recognized territory.

Humbly Submitted,
Honored Leader Elana Kain
High Priestess of the Golden Path Alexandria I
Councilor Draco Yrezinski (Ainorpisp SW Province)
Councilor Harald Ericksson (Ainorpisp NW Province)
Councilor Beatrix Van Der Hoevel (Ainorpisp SE Province)
Councilor Ryo Yamauchi (Ainorpisp NE Province)
Councilor Manfred Windemann (Ainorpisp Central Province)

Clan Leaders Hiroyuki Tanaka and Megumi Akematsu

OOC: This topic brings up an interesting question I've had::is AO isolated from the rest of the 'world?' Meaning, is the Japanese language an accepted dialect, even though there are no countries in AO to give the moniker 'japan' to any language? Just wondering, because there are some...references...that would improve the texture of a narrative which require, for connotative purposes, allusions to *real* accepted norms.

You would have to ask Vil about that.

I don't think we're meant to be in any place in particular, Hell, my History talks of Romanic and British Empire Occupation.

Have you swallowed a thesaurus recently? But yes, i think we can pick and choose 'references' as long as they are within reason.

Possibly you can replace Japanese Dialect with some far Eastern nation such as Crystilakere.

What about a sort of mix between something like Crystilakere and another far eastern nation instead of a Japanese dialect?
