'Allo, referencing this post in the World Cup 40 thread - that you almost definitely won't have seen - I'm looking for thoughts, ideas, technologies and even IC partners for an environmental/ecological drive in Starblaydia.
Prompted partly by the fact that Starblaydia is pretty much empty of it's natural oil reserves and heavily reliant on outside imports (or stealing from the fields of Northern TLC, Operation Galactia anyone?) for the gas it consumes, I figured that to both save the planet and future energy costs at the same time. Securing energy supplies, etc.
Basically Starblaydia will have decrees that all new houses must have: solar panels, ground source heat pumps, rain-water collections, mini wind turbines on top, energy saving electrical equipment, proper insulation and double/triple glazing. Plus there will be massive subsidies for people doing up their older houses to come up to scratch. Biofuel, hybrid cars, development towards methanol and fuel cells... that sort of thing. On- and Off-shore wind turbines, Nuclear Power, Tidal harnesses, etc. Along with massive recycling programs, packaging minimisation and other ecological drives to reduce the eeeeevil Carbon Footprint.
What I'm asking from you guys is any IC or OOC help you may have to offer. OOCly it's on the ideas and technologies front, while ICly it'd be for partners and allies in the 'Green' drive, nations willing to help (perhaps even for a nominal fee) who have IC expertise in these areas - make the world a better place, etc.

I also agree that this is an idea worth reopening and pursuing. I wonder if we can generate any regional interest as that seems to be lacking these days. |
