BazaB's challenge AO's Finest

Once again the Bazalonian BazaB's are heading to the latest AOCAF, this time in Lamoni. Their first appearance as the Bazalonian B Squad in their home AOCAF though facing the dangerous Starblaydi team in the round of 16, effectively destroying the teams hopes of getting to the quarter finals. Hopes of the BazaB's To progress through to the AOCAF Finals have been given a slight boost with their new AOCAF rating of being ranked 15th in the region, but still the dream is still that. The Starblaydi purples are the "bugbears" for the BazaB's and the hopes for the team are to pregress to the Semi-finals.

The BazaB's are looking towards the Bazalonian A team for inspiration as the team has gotten through their first World Cup Qualifiers to come out with a Qualification spot at the end. The BazaB's are not to be overshadowed by the performance of the A team and they have high hopes.

The Groups and such have yet to be released but the BazaB's are looking Strong as they travel to Lamoni.

Necromancers Ready to Work Magic

Queen Sonya Sabre was very happy that the host of AOCAF XVI would be none other than Lamoni. This would be her first trip to Lamoni and she was looking forward to the football action as well as making a political visit as well. Lamoni was one of the very few that held the Sylvanaes Kingdom in high enough regard to exchange embassies. Most others tended to view the nation as backward and behind in technology. Those may be valid points, but Lamoni had extended the hand of friendship that the Queen was to now shake in person.

As for the Group draw for this AOCAF. The Necromancers would face quite a challenge - but the Queen was extremely happy to have dodged both the hosts and Starblaydia.

Group B is where the Necromancers will work their magic, and it will need to be powerful if the squad wants to do well. #2 Bettia leads the group but will have to be in top form to hold off The Hyppos (#8). Without the WC to tire the squad, Hypocria will be looking to make some real noise here. #15 Bazalonia is the side to watch. They have played well, but the BazaB’s will need more talent than they showed in the last DI. They could sneak into the second spot should one of the top two falter. Then there is the Necromancers. We have been making small strides and this could be a break-through tournament for us. With Neu Amerika and Aurendia rounding out the group, the top four seem to be set.

Predictions
1 Bettia
2 Hypocria
3 Bazalonia
4 D&S
5 Aurendia
6 Neu Amerika

Now for a look at the other groups

Group A
1. Starblaydia - Just too much for everyone else
2. Lamoni - The host will only fall short against the Purple People Eaters
3. ASMV - Until they choke in the knock-outs
4. Az-Cz - These guys make enough noise for three squads and that will help
5. Miceland - Could very well end up 4th if the gnomes don’t watch their backs
6. Nojika - Slip Sliding Away
7. Tocapa - Will need some more of that BoF luck if they want to do well here.

Group C
1. Nedalia - Should easily take the group
2. Pacitalia - Could give Nedalia a good run but wont quite beat them
3. Qutar - maybe this is their time
4. Oliverry - Could finish anywhere on the table
5. Demot - Should make a nice run for 4th
6. Footballia - Hmmmm…………………..

Group D
1. Krytennia - Should have enough to hold off the regional founder
2. Vilita - Nice to see these guys in action again
3. Milchama - WC momentum. Enough said
4. TLC - Will struggle yet again
5. Myrtannia - Like us, slowly climbing up the ranks
6. Quakmybush - To much RP in this group to make any headway.

There you have it. Now to see how good we are.

There was a meeting of the Miceland Entertainment and Gaming Office, this was to discuss the challenging group that they had, including the hosts Lamoni. There was alot of Informatio available about Lamoni's political leanings, the apparent leader of the SDL, even though there is no such official position and has strong negative feelings for Starblaydia, another group A team.

ASMV, has apparently been courted by both sides though it is in a third alliance known as ASPIRE, not much is known about ASPIRE and it seems like it is there just to fool themselves into thinking it protects them or whatever goal's ASPIRE have it seems that Casari(not playing in this AOCAF) a major figure in ASPIRE seems just to want to get drunk, wether in space or on land.

Nojika a second team from the Strategic Alliance of Autocratic States to be in the only group of 7. Not as politically active but deadly nontheless

Az-Cz, our gnomish friends from the Baptism of Fire. It's about our turn for a win against the gnomes, our WC squad has proven to be superior than a number of so called, 'higher-ranked' teams. So whether we can steal the last qualification spot from Nojika. Is another question all together

Then there's Tocapa, A team that is also in the World Cup but has just entered the AOCAF. We are not sure how well or poorly this team will perform but expect this team to struggle against the powerhouses in this group.

MD 1: Miceland vs. Andossa Se Mitrin Vega
MD 2: Az-Cz vs. Miceland
MD 3: Miceland vs. Tocapa
MD 4: Miceland vs. Starblaydia
MD 5: Lamoni vs. Miceland
MD 6: Bye Day
MD 7: Miceland vs. Nojika

Starblaydis To Fly Flag Over Nephi
A purple reign in the heart of the Defence League?

Oh boy, ladies and gentlemen, what a geo-political treat we have for you in Group A. Never mind the fact that Starblaydia, eight years ago, defeated Lamoni in the Final of AOCAF14, or that Draggonnii Inviyatii hosts Andossa Se Mitrin Vega are present in this group, but this is much bigger than that. They say football isn't a matter of life and death - it's more important than that, but right here is the oppurtunity to sort out which of the three Atlantian Oceania regional alliances is top cat.

Starblaydia, feared heartland of the Strategic Alliance, the deadly purple peril who are the proud (and very vocal) owners the best team in the world and the best team in the region, as well as the best team at the recent Casaran Olympics. They are the RAWRCRUSH wherever they go. Then there's Lamoni, driving force behind both the inept Federation of Like-Minded States and now the brutal Strategic 'Defence' League. This enormous but poor nation will surely be receiving an economic boost from all the thousands of fans who will be arriving to spend their non-taxed cash in the dreary suburbs of Lamoni's backward cities. Finally, of course, don't forget the Vegans, who form part of the group that sounds like they should have screaming girls at their lip-synched concerts: 'ASPIRE'. This is the third, the youngest and also the quietist of the three major alliances, but can their football speak louder than their policies?

Not to be forgotten - as if we could - are Starblaydia's age-old Allies Nojika. Their participation in the AOCAF is sporadic at best, and Starblaydia's one hope for their ally would be to take some points of their hosts. See also Az-cz, the nation of gnomes who Starblaydia have already played in a pre-World Cup friendly match. Starblaydia's B-team won that three-nil, so a similar performance is expected from the AOCAF Squad. Also, as we're concentrating on weird-looking things, are the Mice of Miceland, a squad of eleven bigulated anthropomorphic mice. They play a 4-4-2, apparently, so something is normal about them, at least. Finally Tocapa, a team Starblaydia have barely heard of, never mind faced before.

Starblaydia are, once again, ranked first in the region and though the teams between them are jockeying for position, Starblaydia should remain the number one side in Atlantian Oceania after this tournament. Surely a sixth AOCAF title, lifted in the heart of one of Starblaydia's main rivals in the region, would be utter Boy's Own tales of daring do? Life is one big story, after all, so why not?

Turorian Outrage at Omission

Outrage swept accross the Nation of Turori late last night moments after the group draw had omitted their name from the combination Vilita & Turori entry into the upcoming AOCAF tournament. Turori, having only 28 cocoabo's trained for competition, were unable to field a team of their own due to the cocoabo's commitment to the upcoming Cup of Harmony tournament in Dance 2 Revolution and Spaam. However, out of the grace of their heart, the Vilitan Football Association agreed to allow a joint entry between the two nations, although it is likely to resemble the former Czechoslovakian hockey team, where it will be all the nation of Turori could do to have two names on the final team sheet.

Turori, however, has taken a front seat in the most recent joint effort between the two nations, where Turorian born Jericei Iobabao has taken an early lead after a win and a series of pole qualifying runs in the Atlantian Oceania Motorsports Championships for the Vilita & Turori open wheel team. Many Turorians, already excited about the performances of Iobabao, were looking forward to this new joint effort between Vilita & Turori, but were obviously dejected to find the "& Turori" left off the ball in the group draw in Lame-oni.

It remained unclear at the time of publishing whether sufficient steps had been taken to ensure that the hosts were aware that the Vilitan FA was expanding it's regulations to allow Turorian selection on the regional stage.

Demot Daily ~ Group C It Is

With the drawing of groups in the 16th edition of the AOCAF, Demot finds themselves in group C. The team will be alongside the sqauds from Nedalia, Pacitalia, Olilverry, Qutar, and fellow newcomers Footballia. While it is true that the team knows little of its competition, even after the recent run in the WC30 qualifying, the team is in merry spirits. The team is espicially ready to give it their all as Charlie Whitehurse decided to put off his retirement for this competition. The veteran goalkeeper has 78 caps for the team and has over a dozen shutouts in his international career. He will be sorely missed once he retires, but for now he will look to safeguard the net of his nation and lead his squad onto victory and glory.

Schedule
MD1: Bye
MD2: Qutar v Demot
MD3: Oliverry v Demot
MD4: Nedalia v Demot
MD5: Bye
MD6: Footballia v Demot

Lamoni gets set to host the region
Blue Foxes say they "don't plan to stop" until the cup is in their hands

NEPHI (PSN) -- And so, the action kicks off here in the sixteenth edition of the Atlantian Oceanian Cup of Association Football. Not only has it been a record-setting edition, with twenty-five teams signed up to play for the region's highest sporting award, but geopolitical analysts are noting the very coincidental grouping-together of Starblaydia and the hosts Lamoni, who are all but the bitterest of enemies.

In Group A, one squad from each of the three major alliances has been thrown into the mix: Lamoni, Starblaydia and Andossa Se Mitrin Vega all face good chances of finishing first in the group while bookmakers are giving good qualifying odds to Az-Cz and Nojika as well. It should be an interesting group as we watch to see whether the SAAS, SDL or ASPIRE prevail in this group. Group A is also the only one of the four with seven teams.

Group B is most certainly the Group of Death in this competition. With defending champs, and friends of the Blue Foxes, Bettia dealing with the stiff attacks of Hypocria, the solid defending of the Bazalonians and the up-and-coming talents of Dorian and Sonya, Group B provides teams with strengths in one of every department and will provide matches where scorelines in the group stage end up closer than expected.

Group C hosts the Blue Foxes, and the home-side squad faces its toughest competition in third-ranked Nedalia. However, if one was to go by AOCAF rankings, Pacitalia (in ninth) would be inclined to finish second in the group and qualify. However, a savvy football fan knows that is never the case; indeed it is hard work that will get one into the knockouts. Following the Lions and Blue Foxes into the third group are Oliverry, the Islands of Qutar, and two newcomers: Footballia and Demot.

Finally, in Group D, we see Vilita, Myrtannia, Quakmybush, the Lowland Clans, Milchama and Krytenia. This was the second candidate for the Group of Death mainly because five out of the six squads in it have formerly been contenders for the trophy or have won it at least once. It should be a battle right to the finish line as Krytenia battles with Vilita and Myrtannia (yes, Myrtannia) for first.

Daunting?

Well that's one way of looking at it, for in these troubled times Bettia's beloved footballers have to do something they have never done before - defend their hard-earned crown.

But whilst the senior team are busy preparing for the World Cup, the FAB have decided that rather than having them sit around twiddling their thumbs waiting for the massively-delayed Under-21 World Cup to kick off, the Young 'Uns will be flying the green and gold flag for the Blessed Realm.

Having hauled themselves up to number two in the regional rankings, Bettia have been seeded top of Group B. First up will be the mystical Necromancers of Dorian & Sonya, real up-and-comers whom the Young 'Uns would be foolish to underestimate. After a well-earned day off, Bettia face newcomers Neu Amerika and Aurendia before squaring off against Bazalonia for the second AOCAF running.

However, it will be Matchday Six that our fans will be looking forward to most, as Bettia face off against next-door neighbours Hypocria in a match which (if all things go according to plan) should be a real goal-fest and could very well decide the group winners. Of course, we say 'if all goes according to plan' - that's something that hasn't happened for what seems an eternity thanks to the recent invasion of giant ants which has seen numerous football pitches ripped up, Bettia's top goalkeeper forced into early retirement (having your hand bitten off is a real career-killer, especially if you're a goalie) and of the nation's brightest strikers seemingly carried off to his doom.

With this in mind, preperations have been far from ideal, but we in the Blessed Realm are made of stern stuff, and if those P.I.S.S.ers and their giant ants think that this can put us off, they'd better think again!

So come on you fans all over the country, come on all you lovers of Takilan footy, come on all you who love this Blessed Realm of ours... CRY OUT AS ONE - BETTIA! BETTIA!

Fixtures

MD1: BETTIA vs. Dorian & Sonya

MD3: BETTIA vs. Neu Amerika
MD4: BETTIA vs. Aurendia

Lamoni ready for AOCAF 16

The Hawks are ready for AOCAF 16, and this one has an importance that no other AOCAF has had for Lamonian fans. This AOCAF will be hosted here in Lamoni itself. The stands will be packed with Lamonian fans watching and cheering for their team, and hopefully this will prevent another meltdown like AOCAF 15's team. After advancing to the knockouts with just two points (a AOCAF record low), they lost in the first round. If something like that happens again, you can bet that there will be outrage among the Lamonian public, and laughter directed at Lamonian sports in general.

The group draw has placed the Hawks in Group A, so let's see who else we are with.

GROUP A

Starblaydia
Lamoni
Andossa Se Mitrin Vega
Nojika
-------------------------
Az-Cz
Miceland
Tocapa

*--------------------*
Note that the above list is also how we think that Group A will look at the end of the group stages. The top four in each group will advance to the 'round of 16,' which promises to be even more exciting than the group stages. Groups B and D are going to be especially exciting in this AOCAF, due to the fact that both can be termed 'group of death.'

The Lamonian AOCAF office has stated that the AOCAF will start within one or two days, and that they are just waiting on regional founder Vilita to supply them with one final, critical mathematical forumla.

Let The Games Begin

Finally. International football is here again. It’s been a long old wait since the last AOCAF but the blue and white shirts have been dusted off and the Hyppos are ready for action. They may have a new coach and a couple of new players but the goal remains the same. To actually put in a competitive challenge for the AOCAF trophy. And it’s a trophy the new coach is very familiar with having captained the Hyppos to lift the prize at AOCAF XI, scoring both goals of the final in the process. And his aim will probably be to continue the good work of his predecessor. Before their elimination in a tight quarter final against Krytenia Alex Santoro’s side had been in scintillating form, banging in 15 goals in four group games and a further 4 in the second round match. And for his first AOCAF the coach was probably quite happy with the group his charges have been drawn in.

First up in Group B it’s those socialists from Neu Amerika. A nation that is apparently proficient in a sport known as “basketball” but as AOCAF debutants expect them to struggle here. Bazalonia, a team that debuted at AOCAF XIII and in their first ever match humiliated the Hyppos 3 - 1. But that was their first team. With the nations best players off to the world cup lightening shouldn’t strike twice. Should it? Is there any nickname more terrifying than the Necromancers? Probably not, but sadly the guys and gals of both Dorian and Sonya have not managed to be quite as intimidating on the pitch. They are however improving all the time and a place in the knockout stages looks almost a certainty.

Matchday 6 will be host to a real Verdana humdinger as two of the most attacking sides around go head to head. It’s Hypocria versus Bettia, Hyppos against Aroras, champions against former champions, SAAS against SDL and neighbour against neighbour. It’s a good job we have a rest day before hand. And finally there’s the somewhat anticlimactic fixture against Aurendia, a nation you feel will battle with fellow debutants Neu Amerika for the dubious honour of not finishing bottom.

Milchama get makeable draw

Well here we are on the verge of another with a yet unnamed B team but yet the draw is out and the people are predicting. Coach Patrice Thibault said, "We have a chance for advancement here. We have been in like 5 AOCAFS now with little to no success but now is our breakout year. Why? because a source told me that we would "RP" whatever that means."

This can only be good so let us look at the group:

Group D
Krytenia: I think they made the finals last time. Regardless they are a good team. We will probably but one never knows.
Vilita- When was the last time they were in an AOCAF? And when was the last time they actually did something in an AOCAF? Since I don't know they're probably terrible. We can beat Vilita.
Myrtannia- We haven't faced them before. Although they have had success in AO if only they would go on the NS forums. Success would await them there also.
The Lowland Clans- WHY? WHY? WHY?
Milchama- Hey that's us!
Quakmybush- They seem to always have good luck so you can never can count them out no matter what. However this might be just be their first time so it will be hard and we could and should win.

Gt-Wl: I'm here today with the new AOCAF manager Hurin Menegroth. Welcome to Az-cz.

Hurin Mengergroth: Thanks.

Gt-Wl: What are your impressions of Az-cz?

HM: So far I really like it. Everyone's been very friendly and the scenery is beautiful. Plus I've really enjoyed the Az-czid sports.

Gt-Wl: Have you been to see the Nation States Kleptochase Championships?

HM: Yes I went with Bub-Rub and his legendary father Tex-Mex. Watching a sport with the greatest ever at it is pretty exceptional. Tex-Mex was able to explain all the small points. It was great. Of course I was cheering on my dwarves. That Nurri is really something. I also have been to see kleptoball, which is a great sport.

Gt-Wl: Alright, let's talk about your tactics.

HM: Well like coach Levesque I run a 3-5-2, but I'm using more central midfielders. Even more than the other gnome team our focus will be on controlling the midfield.

Gt-Wl: Let's look at our opponents. We open with Nojika.

HM: This is a bit of an unfortunate match to open up with. This is they key match. There the likely 4th place team, which is what we're trying to get to. We need to pull an upset here to get in good place for qualification.

Gt-Wl: After that is our good friends from Miceland.

HM: Indeed we have plenty of experience with them. In both countries short footballing history this will be the 4th match. I'm counting on the players to help me understand their tactics. Again this match will be very important. We really have to hit the ground running in this AOCAF.

Gt-Wl: The third match is against the hosts, Lamoni.

HM: This is the first opportunity match that we can afford to lose. Lamoni is a naturally strong side, so it'll be tough. We can take points off of them, but we'll have to play our best.

Gt-Wl: Day four is against Tocapa, how do you feel about them?

HM: Another match where the players are very important. They beat them in the Baptism of Fire, so we're hoping to do so again. They're probably the weakest in the group, but they're still a good side, making the last 8 in the Baptism of Fire. We can't look past them.

Gt-Wl: Match day five is a bye then we face Starblaydia.

HM: Yes, I'm definitely looking forward to this. Hopefully I'll be able to tell the men just the points to hit. That knowledge of Starblaydia will help, but they're the number one team in the region and the world for a reason.

Gt-Wl: We finish the group stage with ASMV.

HM: Of the three top teams this is the most likely place to earn points, but if we need them for qualifying we're in trouble. Andossa Se Mitrin Vega brings it in Atlantian Oceania competition, so they'll be definitely a tough team.

Gt-Wl: What's your overall group summary?

HM: We ended up in the most difficult group to advance from, I believe. Unfortunately with Starblaydia, Lamoni and ASMV looking like locks we're basically fighting with four teams for one spot. Being in the seven team group is naturally a disadvantage, but having the best team and the hosts makes it that much harder. However I've got a veteran side with a lot of talent, so we'll have a good chance. What's important is to get out to a flying start. That will make all the difference.

Raptors hope to avoid last place in AOCAF group of death

Another tournament means another defending champion waiting for Aurendia in the qualifying rounds. Following an unsuccessful World Cup XXX campaign that included losses to defending champs Casari, a similar challenge awaits Team Aurendia heading into AOCAF XVI. Foremost among the Raptors’ Group B opponents in Lamoni are the AOCAF XV champs from Bettia, along with other heavyweights including Bazalonia, Dorian & Sonya, and Hypocria. Filling out Group B is Neu Amerika, another nation making an AOCAF debut. With Bazalonia, Bettia, D & S, and Hypocria expected to earn the top four spots in the group and advancement into the next rounds, it will likely come down to a battle with Neu Amerika to avoid the bottom spot.

Nonetheless, Aurendia's fans are in high spirits, with several thousand expected to make the voyage to Lamoni. Expect those high spirits to combine with fine Lamoni liquor to result in record numbers of streakers for Aurendian football matches, especially considering that it's now for charity as well as entertainment. AurendiCorp leads the list of companies that have pledged to donate 100 rendis to various charitable organisations for each streaker at a Raptor game. All in all this should prove to be a very entertaining tournament for Aurendian football fans, even if the final standings will be a bit disappointing.

Schedule:
MD 1: Bye
MD 2: Dorian & Sonya vs Aurendia
MD 3: Bazalonia vs Aurendia
MD 4: Bettia vs Aurendia
MD 5: Bye
MD 6: Neu Amerika vs Aurendia
MD 7: Hypocria vs Aurendia

GRAHAM CITY SUN - Sports Section: AOCAF Coverage

StarsB Look To Continue AOCAF Success

LAMONI - Today as the StarsB flew into Lamoni to prepare for the AOCAF, they look to repeat the quarter-final birth that they made in the last Championship. Once again accompanied by Manager Casey Dellet, who took over the B team while Director Davies took the helm of the national team for the Cup of Harmony. Captain Yusi Irileneev declared that it was his goal to finish at least forth, and to reach the semi-finals. His teammates and manager also supported it, and vowed to play their hardest to achieve. Meanwhile with the group graw, we can now take a look at who the StarsB will be facing in the qualification stages.

CODE
GROUP D (Predicted Finishing Spot)

Krytenia (1st)
Vilita (3rd)
The Lowland Clans (2nd)
Milchama(6th)
Myrtannia (4th)
Quakmybush (5th)

----------------------------------

First come familiar faces in Krytenia, who were in the StarsB qualification group the last time around. After getting off to a rough start, they breezed through the rest of the group stage and should do the same here. Vilita on the other hand, is back after an abscence, and should struggle because of it, allowing the Allied States to jump up into second in the final group stage. Once again, the Milchamans should suffer and experience two very painful upset losses to Quakmybush and Myrtannia, and will will be rewarded with the wooden spoon. Mrytannia and Quakmybush, should both do well, each challenging the teams they play, but ultimately do not have the talent to get very far otherwise.
