Foxes off to great start against newcomers
Pacitalian squad opens AOCAF16 with a solid win over Footballia

LAMONI (PSN) -- The Blue Foxes got right back into the groove Thursday evening, opening with the quickest goal yet at the sixteenth Atlantian Oceania Cup of Association Football and then dominating play for the remainder of the match to emerge with a convincing 3-1 victory over regional newcomers Footballia.

Squad captain Veranace d'Amantano opened the scoring just 29 seconds into the match, zipping around the bewildered Footballian defence who were just trying to adjust to the speed of play at this tournament and were not expecting the early attack. He pocketed a low goal past the stunned Footie keeper, tucking a shot low to the right for a very early 1:0 lead. Twenty-nine seconds is the quickest goal at AOCAF16 thus far, however, it was not really difficult to accomplish due to the fact this was the first match of the group stage.

Footballia equalised on a penalty in the 40th when Francesco Manzanotti slide-tackled John Smith in an attempt to dislodge the ball just inside the box. Smith took the penalty and converted it high, almost off the crossbar, past an outstretched Cristianu Raduvani to knot the match back up at 1-1.

Pacitalia seemed to lose momentum as teammates razzed Manzanotti for allowing himself to slack on the discipline aspect of defence and he shot back with his own barbs at fellow Blue Foxes. However, Zentrescu appeared to re-organise and re-focus the troops during the midpoint team talk and by the 65th, the Foxes were true to their reputation as down-the-stretch scorers and they forced through the go-ahead goal.

Not a moment after the 65th minute rolled around, Ambrosino Giurimano was past the Footballian defence in a passing rally with d'Amantano, simple just like you're taught in intramural footy. Giurimano tried his luck, rocketing a well-placed, curving shot towards the net off a final pass from d'Amantano which hit the left upright and ricocheted diagonally into the net for the 2-1 lead. And the Blue Foxes went up for good in the 77th with Andolfabio Vunghiasso's latest beauty of a goal off a Michelangelo Mascagnano corner.

From Lamoni
Pacitalia 3 : 1 Footballia

PAC: d'Amantano 1', Giurimano 66', Vunghiasso 77'
FTB: Smith 40' (p)

Hawks defeat Tocapa, get bye

(Karakan Box)

The Hawks have made their smash debut in AOCAF 16, smashing newcombers Tocapa by a score of 2-0. Lamonian Forward Kelly Mccawley scored both goals of the match. His first (which occured at five minutes in) was a well aimed shot to the upper left corner of the goal which soared past the Tocapan goalie. This seemed to stir up the Tocapan offense, and the match turned into an all defensive match until twenty minutes in, when Mccawley again scored; this time with a bicycle kick to the top of the goal. Superb goalkeeping and defense by Lamoni ensured that Tocapa wouldn't even get a good look at the Hawk's net during the whole match.

Lamoni will get a bye on matchday two, and then return to face Az-Cz in matchday three. We have great confidence that Lamoni will be able to handle Az-Cz, but we also know not to discount the little teams. All in all, this was a good first match for the Hawks, and we can hope that the bye day will not dampen the momentum that we will be carrying into it.

Bazalonia's first AOCAF match. Against the Hypocrian Hyppos. The team that they pulled out an upset against in their first AOCAF, AOCAF13 to get into the knock out stage, and the Hypocrian team was out for blood, Literally. It was in the 26th minute where the Hypocrian team got their first goal, Carlo Molinari came and physically challenged the BazaB Goalie, Paul Kanga. Paul had sustained a calf injury and was strechered off the field.

The referee was seemingly Naval gazing and did not see the physical challange and only saw the resultant injury and goal. Paul Stravyionous came in to replace Paul and Hector Ralph complained to the ref about the lack of the call, he argued so vehemently that he was given a yellow card, this did not make Hector pause and continued on in a rant against the ref. This resulted in the Bazalonian getting a red card. Leaving the BazaB-side 1 goal down and 1 defender down.

Another goal was scored for the Hypocrian side before the BazaB's managed to counter-attack and retaliate scoring one goal and then minutes later managed to get a second without even the ball getting out of the Hypocrian half. At half time the score was a 2-all draw abd being a man down early in the match the Bazalonian's performed quite admirably.

The 2nd half saw the Hypocrians totally dominate with 3 goals scored in the 45 minutes, there was nothing that the Bazalonians could do with the loss of a critical man in defence and being required to use their support keeper.

Sports Section

1-1

The AOCAF started a couple of days clearly without our notice and still without a posted Michamian roster. The B team except for any goal scorers will remain anynomous according to Coach Patrice Thibault because, "Then when I fail it doesn't look as bad."

The first game the anymousers played was against Krytenia. After a quick start from midfielders Johnson and Henderson. The Warriors fell back and the Aces of Krytenia brought the pressure waaaaay to quickly. The defense buckled under the pressure and Tuck Koolerc let in the first goal when Sam Duffy came racing through the defence and scored for 1-0. The Warriors did tie though when a free kick from Chuck Farenstein struck the post and was rebounded by Yoni Katzanak who scored his first ever goal for the Warriors to tie it at 1. The game though was decided in the second half was the B team began to tire and Krytenia brought the pressure on. It ended up in the form of Sam Duffy getting past his marker and into the net for his second goal of the night.

Final Score:
Milchama 1 (Katzanak 37)
Krytenia 2 (Duffy 20, 80)

The next game was against Quakmybush the shock qualifiers who have qualified in their first two world cup attempts- to the annoyance of many around them. Their B team though could not stand up to the Warriors. Rick Johnson and Matt Henderson, the two young wingers, showed their stuff brilliantly and middle man Chuck Farenstein kept it all in check for the Warriors. The midfield started the dominance that extended to the forward line led by Yoni Kazanak. Kazanak scored the first goal against Quakmybush when a pass from Henderson found him as he beat the offside trap to score. Milchama would then take a 2-0 lead when a corner by Farenstein found the tall guy in the center, Kev Walton. Walton headed the ball in for the Warriors' second goal and a nice 2-0 lead. The Warriors continued to dominate but Justin Singleton got past Cameron Walters and Corey Nash for the Quakmybush's only goal of the match. The Warriors could have two more but typical poor finishing from the forwards and defenders left the game to end at 2-1.

Final Score:
Milchama 2 (Kazanak 26, Walton 39)
Quakmybush 1 (Singleton 61)

Necromancers Blast Aurendia 3-1

Queen Sonya Sabre could only smile. The day had been a very good one with meetings early in the day with Lamonian politicians and a Necromancer match later in the day. And both had turned out much as the Queen had expected - very, very good.

The match with Aurendia was controlled from the start by the Necromancers who continued their inspired play from the Bettia encounter. Aurendia seemed to be shell-shocked and looking for the sidelines early. That was due to the intense pressure applied by the Necromancer defense, led by Estrella Finau. The defense completely shut down the Aurendian attack and keeper Cierra Samantha clearly looked bored for most of the match.

Lupe Tatu would kick start the scoring for D&S with a rare goal in the 14th minute of play. That was followed by another quick goal from Melonie Gaffer in the 15th. The 2-0 lead headed for halftime was more than enough to secure the win.

The second half saw something rather unusual. The Necromancers had a secure lead and the reserves got a chance for some extended playing time. Diamond Cummer would take advantage of her time with a goal in the 67th minute.

But when the reserves get their chances, there is usually a downside to things. Reserve keeper, Newton Prvitt, had never been used in an international competition before and that showed clearly. The defense of the Necromancers did a ton of work to protect him as he struggled to adjust but they couldn’t stop everything. Aurendia would score in the 73rd minute to avoid the complete shutout.

MD 3 is a bye date for the Necromancers. A bye date that will be used to study film of the next opponent - the Hyppos of Hypocria who have literally been destroying their opposition to this point. 5-0 on MD1 and 5-2 over the BazaB’s today.

QUOTE (Project Erosis Field Report )

Project Erosis - Phase III
Field Test Progress Report
Breann Mikkola, Supervising Controller

The horrid results of the previous match for our Nyriad Test Subjects has been replaced today with a better-than-expected 3-1 result over the squad participating from Nojika. The complete domination of such a squad proves that the years of development of the Erosis program were not wasted. In fact they prove that Erosis can be declared a success. This is the sort of proof we were looking for when the Nyriad Test Group was sent in place of the River Dragons.

It is now clear that our efforts to genetically engineer a stronger and more able sub-race has surpassed the dreams of those who began this effort more than thirty years ago. The planned tests for other groups should begin soon and we eagerly await the results of those tests. But until that time Erosis and the Nyriad tests are all that we have to base our opinions on. Should the other tests prove as fruitful as the results of this one, things will have progressed beyond our expectations and new goals will need to be set in order to reflect this fact.

The one area that still needs work and research is the area of individual speed, which is clearly evident in watching film studies of the subjects in action, but it is my opinion that the efforts made of late to correct this will be more than adequate in future endeavors. And we might want to work on the whole “large rodent phobia” issue as well.

End Report.

Miceland take 2 from 2 against Gnomes

Despite being a part of the AOCAF tournament the second matchday match that the mice had against the gnomes of Az-Cz where genuinely friendly. This is the 4th time that the teams had faced each other and it showed during the match with each side showing the respect and friendship that they share for each other being the pinnacle of sportscreatureship.

Despite the respect and friendship of both teams this was a soccer tournament, and both teams pitted their best efforts against each other. The first half was fairly equal with both teams scoring one goal each and roughly equal percentages of posession and equal number of shots at goal. The game seemed close and almost seemed to inevitably end up in a draw.

The second half totally changed this perception almost immediately. The second half was much more a Mice affair dominating and controlling the match scoring 2 more goals and not conceeding any goals. The goals where scored by Input Computer Mouse (34'), Fievel ChurchMouse (52') and Charity Fieldmouse (67').

The Miceland-Az-Cz matches have been to and fro, Az-Cz winning our first encounter, Miceland the next and then Az-Cz in the friendly that was hosted in Miceland. This match kept this pattern going with Az-Cz, Mice, Az-Cz, Mice. When we next meet if the pattern is to continue it is expected to be the gnomes turn to win again. This is examplified by the fact of Miceland's and Az-Cz's rankings. Az-Cz being 71 and Miceland 72. Az-Cz and Mice seem to follow each other around both in the groups they are in and with the their ranking. Both Miceland and Az-Cz are looking to have a good future in the world of international football.

Miceland's A side proves to much for Az-cz's A- side.

In a match that would propel the winner to the the top spot in the group and place them as a near lock for the finals the Miceland were able to triumph over the Gnomes 3-1.
The game was balanced early. If-Wt poked and prodded at the defense but couldn't find much where as the Mice were held back by the strong defense of Zax-Im and Hubertino. Both teams played pretty balanced attacks.
Az-cz struck first taking the lead off a nice cross from If-Wt to Bub-Rub in the 30th minute. Bub-Rub juked past Reepicheap and fire in the opening goal.
However the Az-cz celebration was to be short lived as it took Miceland only four minutes to find a counter. Input Computermouse once again found a goal against the Gnomes as he made a beautiful steal from Sim-Blr and slipped the ball just past Dn-Zf.
In the second however the Mice really stepped up and controlled the game. Input Computermouse took advantage of another mistake from Sim-Blr and fed Fievel ChurchMouse for the second mice goal of the game and a lead they wouldn't relinquish.
At this point Menegroth tried to push the team forward. He brought on Lur-Mn for Sim-Blr. However the mice were prepared for the three forward attack and were able to keep the team in check. Menegroth saw that and gambled even more, by taking out Hubertino and bringing on Spr-Nva. Unfortunately that led to the third goal of the game.
Without Hubertino aiding him Zax-Im couldn't quite control the back of the defense and Charity Fieldmouse found the third goal in the 67th minute.
With that Menegroth threw all caution to the win taking Zax-Im out and bringing on J-Nash as a forth striker. Although that led to a few attacks, the mice countered by getting more defensive and they were able to repel fairly easily the tide of the Gnome attack.
Although we are happy for our friends from Miceland, who look well set to proceed towards qualification, things now look bleak for the Gnomes. We'll probably have to find victories against Andossa Se Mitrin Vega and Tocapa to advance to the knockout rounds, and that looks like a tall order. The next match for the Gnomes is against the hosts, a match where any points would be considered a positive.

MC: Were here with coach Menegroth and Zax-Im.

Menegroth: Just a disappointing result today. We simply fell apart in the second half. We scored first but they were the better team today.

[translated from "Ye fookers, bastids, cannae play two five-n-forta's e'ye Grungi at yer back. Roden robbin bastids!"]

Az-cz reporter 1: Sim-Blr is killing the team, what are you going to do about it?

Menegroth: Clearly his old legs are killing the team. He's lost his starting spot, but he might still get some playing time from the bench.

[translated from "T'old gitbag, ee'l nay play fa me agin."]

Az-cz reporter 2: How do you feel about the qualification chances now?

Menegroth: Let's see if we can beat the hosts. If we can knock off those annoying Lamonians than we could be in good shape. But losing hurt.

[translated from "Gorra play bastid irriot Lamoans t'begin we."]

Az-cz reporter 3: What's the team's mood?

Zax-Im: Disappointed. We know we can beat Miceland, but they were just better today.

Az-cz reporter 4: What do you think of the developing rivalry with Miceland?

Zax-Im: I wouldn't really call it a rivalry. Both countries root strongly for the other. We've just had lots of matches. We'll be pulling for them the rest of the way.

Az-cz reporter 5: What do you think is necessary to earn points against Lamoni?

Menegroth: We've just got to play better. There's no magic wand. We need to play as well as we can and hope they don't play as well as they can.

[translated from "Kick 'em oop t'arse."]

Az-cz reporter 6: Any hints on how the formation will look against Lamoni?

Menegroth: I'm going to start Kazakov instead of Sim-Blr. Other than that the team will be the same. He's really been the one weak link.

[translated from "Blur be foul, Kazza's in."]

Az-cz reporter 7: Why do you think Bub-Rub's been the only player to score?

Menegroth: It's a fluke. I'm not really worried about it. We've scored in both games so I think the offense is fine.

[translated from "Fer Grungi's sake ee's only wun put t'ball in t'net."]

MC: Alright last question.

Az-cz reporter 8: How do you think the team split is working?

Zax-Im: We definitely miss some of the players. We'd be much more dangerous if Kn-Dg, Pizelkaxrovsky and the others were here. But we're still a good team. I think it will be good for the young players to play without us.

Demot Daily ~ Demot Rockets Into Form

In their first AOCAF match, Demot put on a marvelous display of talent and skill. With a 4-0 drubbing of Qutar, the team bolted into second place in their group and will be vieing with Oliverry in the next match. Pushing aside the critics who say that not to much should be read into this match because Qutar is relatively new themselves, this was indeed a great start for the side. Not only did the offence explode with the four goals, but the defense held strong and Whitehurse earned a clean sheet.

The scoring began in the 8th minute when Masteron recieved a pass from Hostra and began to advance the attack. Flanked by Frontson and Ysman, the trio worked their way through the broken Qutar defense with crisp passing. With a nice shake of her defender, Ysman pulled free and had only the keep to beat. She faked left and spun right, but the keep didn't bite, but dove right for the ball. Sarah reacted quickly and lifted the ball into the air and headed it home.

Then in the 42nd minute the team had earned a corner off a long ranged effort by Lepierre. As Lucas prepared to take it, Frontson got inside his defender and as the ball curved in to the middle of the box, he met it with the full force of his forehead, directing it into the bottom left corner. The keeper found himself out of place, and could do little but hope the ball traveled wide. But when the roar of the crowd began, he knew that the ball had gone into the onion bag.

The Qutar team came back onto the pitch in the second half looking beaten and demoralized. Frowns covered the faces of every player, meanwhile the Demot side look cheerful and engergetic with smiles and grins upon their face. Even Dogood who rarely shows his mood during the game let out a soft chuckle and grin. It was then that you knew the game was in hand.

The second half was much a repeat of the first, with Black scoring off a tricky header in the 74th minute and then Masteron blasting one from over 40 yards out that hit the crossbar and richoted into the back of the net. The team will now focus on Olverry, which looks to prove much stronger of a test than the opener.

Oh-oh! Oh-oh! We are the Bettia boys!
Oh-oh! Oh-oh! We are the Bettia boys!
And if you are a PÏSSer
Then surrender or you die,
Cos we all follow the 'Roras!

The defiant cries of thousands of jubilant Bettians rang out across the streets of Richland, Lamoni, as indeed they did in the streets of Bettia itself. AOCAF is always a special time for football fans in the Blessed Realm, and this was no exception thanks to those no-good terrorists and their army of giant ants.

As per usual, millions of those who were unable to make the shortish journey to Lamoni had crowded round whatever source of live pictures they could find - giant screens in parks and town squares, TVs in community centres and shop windows and yes, sports cafés like the Pie & Pixie in Pifton... but that's not where we start off today.

No siree, this time we cut to a lone figure rushing desperately down a deserted Pifton High Street who, for some reason, is clutching a laptop computer.

"ARGH! GET OUT THE BLOODY WAY!" he yells at a comedy tumbleweed which makes the mistake of tumbling slowly in front of him (where the hell do these inner-city tumbleweeds come from anyway?), before stamping on it and kicking it angrily out the way. Eventually he arrives at the Pie & Pixie and, after taking a second to catch his breath and mop his sweaty brow, breathlessly opens the door to be greeted with a huge roar.

Taking aback by this cacophonous reception, he slowly makes his way through the crowd of customers all decked out in green and gold to his usual seat, which his pal Ali had thoughtfully kept free for him.

"Blimey George, you took yer bloody time didn't you?

"Wow, I knew I was popular but that's taking the piss!" George jokes.

"Eh? What you on about?"

"That massive cheer as I walked in. After the day I've had, that's just what I needed. Anyway, how soon till kick-off?"

"Erm, George... the game kicked off a couple of hours ago. That cheer was for the final whistle - we won! What kept you anyway? And what's with the 'puter?"

George groans. "Oh, don't get me started on this ruddy thing. My niece Aisha, she's come up from Akani Sands to stay with us for a couple of days. Anyways, last night she's doing sort of stuff on this thing and all of a sudden she says it started acting funny. Now I'm no expert on this sort of thing..."

"That's an understatement. I remember a few weeks ago you said that to install a firewall on a computer, you had to actually set the thing on fire then build a wall on top of it! You twät."

"...Now I'm no expert on this sort of thing so I'm there making all sorts of useful suggestions - you know, turning it off and on again, asking it nicely what's happening, kicking it down the stairs, that sort of thing. Anyway, she says it's probably got a virus, and she asks me to take it down a computer shop for some guy to have a look at. Now, I didn't really see the point of going to all that expense, so I thought I'd have a crack at getting rid of the virus myself."

"Oh dear..."

"So there I am, wrapping it up in nice thick blankets with a hot water bottle, and taking its temperature by sticking a thermometer in some hole I found in the back - I really hope that was its mouth. No change, so I thought 'I know just the thing!'"

"Oh dear, oh dear..."

"And right after I'd finished pouring the last of the cough medicine into the so-called 'floppy drive' - God knows why they call it that, it looks pretty solid to me - it starts making this crackly fizzly type noise and the screen goes black."

By this point Ali has his head in his hands. George takes no notice and carries on.

"So I've just spent the whole day trying to find a place to get it repaired, but all the shops were shut - I'd totally forgotten about today's match. So, this computer... got any ideas?"

"Let's see... have you tried a blast furnace?"

"A blast furnace? Oh of course! That'll get rid of the medicine and dry up the circuitboard thingy quite nicely - and maybe get rid of this virus too! Ali, you're a genius! I'm off to find a furnace right now!"

"No George! Wait! I was only... joking..." Ali yelled trying desperately to stop him, but it's too late - George has raced out of the door and is halfway down the High Street, asking bemused passers-by if he has a spare furnace.

"Man, I'd hate to be in his shoes when his niece finds out."

Foxes own the pitch in huge victory over Oliverry
Pacitalia takes the lead, for now, in Group C, after two decisive victories

LAMONI (PSN) -- After losing the battle to host the AOCAF this time around, Pacitalian spirits were notably a little dimmer. But only a few days into the competition and you wouldn't even know what had happened last month in the bid vote, for the Blue Foxes have scored seven goals in two matches to lead Group C early in the group stage.

The Pacitalian squad have proved themselves perennial contenders with 3-1 and 4-1 triumphs over Footballia and Oliverry, respectively, wins that were expected but, considering that Pacitalia usually starts slower even if they win their first matches, this is a better than expected performance by the Blue Foxes. And in a group where their only major competition (based on statistics) would have to be the Lions, the players have to admit their fortunes are looking pretty good for the first time.

"I think this is the first time where we haven't been drawn into an absolutely impossible group, or one with Starblaydia in it," defender Angelo Bordellatta said. Bordellatta's embarrassing performances in AOCAF XV (he was responsible for all the goals Starblaydia scored in a 6-0 horseshoeing on the opening day) led to him being taken off the starting eleven in favour of Sergio San' Cristobal, who, despite his "rookie" status, helped secure the Blue Foxes a playoff berth, recovering well from the early drubbing.

"I'm happy with our play so far, especially mine, as we know what happened last year," he added. Bordellatta can take pride in the fact that so far, neither goal against can be attributed to him. Footballia's goal was a penalty while Oliverry's Friday goal came off a superb corner.

The Oliverrian goal came in the 17th minute and, needless to say, had Pacitalian fans on edge. Christophe Beaudoin placed his corner right into the six-yard box where it looked to be heading for Amaury Regnier. However, he was well covered by Francesco Manzanotti and was unable to convert. Instead, the ball fell to the foot of striker Gilbert Lamare who redirected it off the toe and past Cristianu Raduvani for the 1-0 lead.

However shaken the fans were by the early goal, the players were not, and they turned on the offensive jets immediately, attacking, defending and counter-attacking constantly until finally in the 31st, Michelangelo Mascagnano broke through and fed Ambrosino Giurimano, who faked a slicer to the right side of the net and passed instead to a enclosing Andreos Charisteas. Charisteas' odd left-footed delivery passed through the legs of Guillaume Talon to equalise.

Three minutes later, Charisteas' corner returned the favour in reverse as it fell to the feet of Giurimano. The Magician was unable to shoot so he flicked it left to Mascagnano, who pocketed his first of the tournament, again between Talon's legs, to put Pacitalia ahead 2-1 going into the half.

In the second half, it was more Pacitalia right to the end, as Veranace d'Amantano got in the action, taking a pass from Giurimano and shoving it left past Talon to go up by two in the 62nd. Finally, Giurimano was thanked for setting up three straight goals in the form of a sweet cross from Andolfabio Vunghiasso which hit him square in the chest, settled to the ground and was placed perfectly at The Magician's feet, where he pushed the ball forward a bit before hooking a shot to the top-left corner, a wildly curved attempt that sailed right around the arms of Talon and looked as though, had gravity not been a factor, it would have flown in a complete circle. It was a spectacular goal that sealed the deal on a decisive win for the Blue Foxes.

The Blue Foxes get to relax after their great efforts over one hundred and eighty minutes of play with a bye day, before all six teams in the group return to action on matchday four. Pacitalia faces sophomore AOCAFers Qutar on day four. After that, it's another bye before the marquee matchup against Nedalia on day six and the closing group stage contest against Demot.

From Lamoni:
Pacitalia 4 : 1 Oliverry

PAC: Charisteas 31', Mascagnano 34', d'Amantano 62', Giurimano 78'
OLI: Lamare 17'

[OOC: Lamoni, since I don't play MD3, can you count this as my RP for MD4? Thanks.]
