Just out of curiosity, are there any plans on maybe having one somewhere down the line, or is this pretty much a dead idea? I know you said the thread was dead Star, just wanted to know about the idea of having another at some point. Seems like something I might be interested in participating in.

The first AOlympics went a little bit t**s-up (my fault), and we haven't touched it since.

Olympics have traditionally been an enormous undertaking, as you're co-ordinating so many nations, athletes, events and such that I've never, ever seen an Olympics in any form finish once it's even vaguely begun.

Better to chop it up into much smaller competitions and tournaments that you can create, run and scorinate easily. Say... put the track events into a tour and distribute the scorinator around anyone who wants to host part of the tour - kinda like an AO Golden League or something.

The only way an Olympics-styled event could even conceivably work is if a committee of nations put them on with one person in charge of scorinating a limited number of events. Let's say I'd do lacrosse, basketball, and American football, Star could do real football, baseball, and field hockey, Bedistan could do track and field, Vil could do swimming and diving, etc. We could set the tournament up in one specific country for RP purposes, but it would take several people to do the actual scorinating.

That's my opinion, your mileage (or kilometreage? ph34r.gif) may vary.

Thats a useful idea, Sarz. Very 'spirit of co-operation' there.

I think i've got KP's olympic spreadsheet somewhere that did all the running events and i think i've got a volleyball sheet somewhere too. We could send that sheet to anyone who wanted to host a track event, say, and then they produce the scores.

Say, for instance, the Golden League-style events go to Jhanna, Alikka-Corra, Woodstock and <insert national capitals here>.

I still think that an 'olympic games' itself is a little... overriding. I dunno, perhaps more effort that its worth. Of course, taking the 'Olympic' stigma away from it would be fine by me, Ahh, a good laugh..

<Inserting Everton City here.>

I think we should go ahead with the Golden League thing.

A 100m test:

CODE

Lane 1 KRY 10.29
Lane 2 STB 10.33
Lane 3 LAM 10.35
Lane 4 SRZ 10.20
Lane 5 VIL 10.02
Lane 6 CBS 10.35
Lane 7 FAL 10.49
Lane 8 KHZ 10.35

That, for instance, is what one would get, with varying degrees of times available. You can edit the %ages of the best and worst finishing times in each race relative to the Olympic Record, and it's adjusted for wind speed too, for when that matters.

There are 25 track events down on this sheet:

CODE

Mens 100
Mens 200
Mens 400
Mens 800
Mens 1500
Mens 5000
Mens 10000
Mens marathon
Mens 110 hurdles
Mens 400 hurdles
Mens 3000 SC
Mens 4x100
Mens 4x400
Womens 100
Womens 200
Womens 400
Womens 800
Womens 1500
Womens 5000
Womens 10000
Womens marathon
Womens 100 hurdles
Womens 400 hurdles
Womens 4x100
Womens 4x400

Call it something other than the Golden League (perhaps the Gaolden League, ha ha? Perhaps not!) and we can start sign-ups. Note these are track events only, as thats all that was on this sheet that KP made, Man that was so funny! :D.

Shouldn't somebody just delete this, considering it will never happen again.
