President Cannonite sits at his desk, alone with his thoughts.

'The complexities of this situation seem to allude some, but I will not be disillusioned. The idea of striking Lopinka was mine, as a retalliatory tactic. Missles were launched from that site and our designation of it as neutral territory was diminished and the strategic opportunity too great to be left alone.'

The dark nights before the rebellion flashed in his mind. He shuddered. How differently things used to be handled. He readjusted himself in his chair and began once again on his ponderings. 'This situation is being seen as black and white, with myself and Novus Atlantica the black, evil opposition, and Nojika and the AORDO as the white... the saviors of Atlantian Oceania. People need to realize that it has all become varying shades of grey, there is no right and wrong in this. We changed alignment. We switched from one side to another, but not from good to bad. An opportunity to advance Xile presented itself, but the downside of it was that a war could be started. As a military man, I know the realities of war, but perhaps I wasn't looking at the situation the right way...'

Aidan picks up his phone, and dials his Defense Secretary. 'Gather the rest of the Cabinet. We need to go over the requirements for our withdrawel from Nojika.'

'But sir!...'

Aidan slammed the phone on the receiver and walked to the window. He stood, brooding over his decision. The door flung open. 'Sir! The territory conceded to Salmantic in the past treaty has just been taken by Dorian Hadilla of the Xilian Infantry! We are currently occupying the area and awaiting retalliation!'

The President turned to look upon the intruder. A blast in the distance breaks the silence, a shattering of glass destroys the peace of the room. A gasp stops the heartbeat of a nation...

The room is dimly lit, as the light had been too bright for such a dark decision. As word arrived from the Xilian general that the mission had been accomplished, the room went quiet.

"So he's dead? It went through without a hitch I would assume?" Prime Minister Lavinsky questioned finally.

Jason Salvon just sat there, unbelieving of what his leader and his nation had just done.

"Why? Why in the hell did you have to kill him? Everything was going along fine, we were..."

He was suddenly cut short as Lavisnky's pistol roared out.

"That's two bullets that have been dispensed against opposistion tonight, would anyone like to make it three? Get rid of him."

As some aides pick up the body and remove it from the room, Aron Lavinsky restated his question, this time a little more impatiently.

The Internal Affairs minister finally musters up the courage to answer, "Yes sir, he's gone. The assassin was caught however, so there is no doubt that we will be found out."

The Prime Minister laughed, "It's not like they wouldn't find out when Dorian took power anyhow Austin, and Aidan was such an incompetant leader, we did the nation a favor."

"Dorian will be taking power shortly, Sir. We expect he will make a speech in the morning, he has the support of the military" continued Herring.

"Good, Good, I think that we will make a fine alliance...perhaps we should prepare a deployment of troops, I think the AORDO was a little hasty on their peace talks"

Lavinsky left the room with a table of advisors looking codly at one another. Who was to know what tomorrow would bring.

General Dorian stood before the Senate with a stone expression upon his face.

'I accept responsibility for the death of President Cannonite. His weak tactics and poor use of our invincible military made it a necessary action.'
'I am now taking control of the Presidents position for the time being, until this state of war is diminished. The Senate will remain intact, and will go about its civic duties as always. I will turn over my leadership to an election when I deem that the hostilities are over.

If you do not comply, I have over half the armed wing of Xile at my command. That is all.' And he walked out the door. A shocked Senate looked on.
