Ainorpisp Decision 200... Whatever

Sarmatia, Ainorpisp - In a landmark decision today, the High Council and Honored Leader announced a great reform in the governmental system of the Ainorpispian Motherland. After having a partially democratic system for quite some time, the head of state being decided by a High Council instead of by the people, a key change is now to take place. In light of the current ratings of Ainorpisp as having low political freedoms, the new system of government will be a federal republic - all positions up to the station the Honored Leader currently holds now to be decided by a mandate from the people of Ainorpisp rather than they old ways.

"In order to fully incorporate all citizens of the Land of the Golden Path, we intend to have a wide-ranging General Election," stated Councilor Jevon Bernstein, "From this day forward, we enter a new era of freedoms in which the government will be by the people, for the people, and of the people."

The one position in the government that will not be voted upon is the position of High Priestess, whch will continue to be decided by the Temple of the Golden Path. This means that while the High Council and Honored Leader could change, Alexandria I will remain the High Priestess until she passes on or steps down - a long ways away. Also changed, however, is the title of the head of state - from Honored Leader to President.

A grand total of eleven High Council positions will be created, two Councilors from each outlying province and one from the Central Province that includes Sarmatia. Cabinet posiions will also be created under the President, including Minister of the State, Minister of Defense, Minister of Health and Medicine, and Minister of Law, all of which shall be agreed upon by the President. A vice president shall also be elected after being chosen by the respective presidential candidate.

Amongst the candidates:

HIGH COUNCIL (top two in popular vote are elected)
SouthWest Province: Jevon Bernstein (Golden Path Party - GPP), Karin Teuchssar (AinorPisp Conservative Party - ACP), George Mumblesworth (Mad Raving Looney- MRL), Atar Al-Muqada (Socialst - S)
SouthEast Province: Andrei Korokov (GPP), Kevin Royall (ACP), Omar Longbottom (MRL)
NorthWest Province: Mumei Shichinobu (GPP), Michel Garschtoff (ACP), Pedro Domingo (MRL), Evelyn Ficus (S)
NorthEast Province: Emiko Takeda (GPP), Franklin Teuttle (ACP), Convoy Butterfly (MRL), Marcia Garciapara (S)
Central Province (top finisher in popular vote is elected): Reginald Heydrich (GPP), Semara Peraha (S), A.B. Casebier (MRL)

PRESIDENT/VICE PRESIDENT (Top finisher in popular vote wins)
Elana Kain/Genesis Cools (GPP)
S. Bladrick/Terra Bumdieux (MRL)
Carlton Winston/Yossef Stevens (ACP)

Lamoni is pleasantly suprised by this change in one of our allies. Lamoni has always believed that the people should have a say in their government (most often expressed by voting). We shall be watching the coming elections with great interest, and promise to send election observers if Ainorpisp feels the need for their services.

First Election Results In
Short-notice election still breeds 80% turnout

The votes have been casted, the polls closed and now the first ever free elections in Ainorpisp are coming to an end. Some races are not yet fully accounted for yet, but we do have some projections for the public watching NANN's official coverage of the election. These are the races we feel are more or less decided with 75% of the votes counted in all precincts.

Ainorpispian High Council
SouthWest
*Jevon Bernstein (GPP) - 42%
*George Mumblesworth (MRL) - 35%
Karin Teuchssar (ACP) - 15%
Atar Al-Muqada (S) - 8%

In results that shouldn't surprise anyone, the current Councilor from SW is projected to be re-elected. Bernstein will be joined by a surprise second Councilor, the Mad Raving Looney party's George Mumblesworth. Thought to be a fringe candidate, Mumblesworth's incoherent ramblings appearantly have struck a chord with voters.

Total: GPP 1, MRL 1

SouthEast
*Andrei Korokov (GPP) - 49%
*Omar Longbottom (MRL) - 48%
Kevin Royall (ACP) - 2%

Again, the GPP had a strong candidate to field in SE and easily ran away from the start of the race. The surprise here is yet another strong shwowing by the MRL against the Ainorpispian Conservative Party, which has yet to capture a single Council seat. Their SE candidate, however, may have killed his chances of election by vowing to start a new military program of 'e-soldiers'; soldiers that can be sent over telephones and attack anyone, as well as Royall's proposed foreign policy of nuking anyone he didn't agree with.

Total: GPP 2, MRL 2

NorthWest
Mumei Shichinobu (GPP) - 25%
Michel Garschtoff (ACP) - 25%
Pedro Domingo (MRL) - 25%
Evelyn Ficus (S) - 25%

In a race too close to call at the moment, all four candidates are tied with a quarter of the vote each, respectively. This is what happens when a large number of voters choose a candidate to vote for at random, after all.

Total: GPP 2, MRL 2

NorthEast
*Convoy Butterfly (MRL) - 39%
*Marcia Garciapara (S) - 35%
Emiko Takeda (GPP) - 13%
Franklin Teuttle (ACP) - 13%

This race turned out to be a shocker, as neither of the two most prominent parties in Ainorpisp are projected to capture a seat in NE. With Councilors-elect Butterfly and Garciapara, the new High Council will look quite odd - as seen in the current totals. With Central not reporting, the MRL currently has the projected advantage in the High Council.

Total: MRL 3, GPP 2, S 1

President of the Sacred Land of Ainorpisp
*Kain/Cools (GPP) - 94%
Winston/Stevens (ACP) - 4%
Baldrick/Bumdieux (MRL) - 2%

In a mandate from the people of this nation, it is easily projectable now that the first President of Ainorpisp will be current Honored Leader Elana Kain. Along with her running mate, rastafarian judo champion and Olympian Genesis Cools, Kain has won the Presidency in a landslide over all challengers, and will now serve the six-year term of Ainorpispian President.
