Imperial City - The Imperial Ministry of Sporting and Recreation announced today that Zongguo will begin actively competing in international footballing competitions. Part of a wider national plan to increase ties with foreign lands, the new national team will be preparing for the first foray into international competition by any Zongguoese side.

For the moment, the Empire's focus will be on developing a national team for competition on a global level. Zongguo was to participate in the coming Baptism of Fire and World Cup 42, but scheduling difficulties forced the Empire to withdraw. Still, the Ministry's spokesman was optimistic that Zongguo would be prepared to enter the Baptism of Fire and World Cup Qualifiers the next time around. It was also revealed that Zongguo would field a more 'junior' side in the regional AOCAF tournament.

With no professional league in existance, and no interscholastic competition at the collegiate level, it is unclear where Zongguo's first national team will originate from. The Ministry's spokesman, however, said it was the Emperor's will that national sides be formed. In his divine wisdom, the Emperor has seen fit that despite the difficulties, plans will be carried out.

An inviation was also extended to any nations wishing to compete against the new national side in international friendlies to do so. It is believed this will give Zongguo's national side a good taste of international football before hurling itself into the global level of play.

Sirs,

The nation of Starblaydia has always encouraged the promotion of football around the world and been at the forefront of development for over a century. Whether as the founders of the new incarnation of the Under-21 World Cup, as former President-nation of the World Cup Committee and as current World and Atlantian Oceania Champions, Starblaydia would be honoured to play against the Zongguo national football team in their first international match.

There are many options available - a one-off match in your nation's main stadium, a Starblaydi tour of Zounggou or, of course, a Zonggouese tour of Starblaydia. Both the national side and the Under-21 football team can be called upon to play against your nation if a series of matches is arranged.

Starblaydia's youth team and domestic club development scheme is second to none, proved by our recent international successes, and I would liketo take this opportunity to offer our expertise in arranging a national league for your nation. I await your reply with anticipation.

The President of the Bazalonian Federation of Soccer Associations (a name that was a relic of Bazalonia's first stint in international football and is quite out-dated.) Andrew Coulter, has publicly expressed joy at hearing the announcement from the Imperial Minister of Sport and Recreation.

"We'd really like to see a new nation step up to the plate and be a shining inspiration of what can be."

Going onto say "we'd only be too happy to aid in the process to get a Zongguese national football league and association."

When presented with the already published Starblaydi response he goes onto to suggest that Bazalonia and Starblaydia could both help. Suggesting that Starblaydia might focus it's attention on varsity and youth training programs with the Zongguese and that Bazalonia might focus on organisation and structure of the national league.

Of course at the moment this is only a suggestion and it would rely upon all parties agreeing to co-operate, there is also a suggestion of a three way tournament, the host of the game would be the team not playing.

Imperial City - The Imperial Minister for Sport and Recreation has expressed his great pleasure at recieving offers of assistance from two prominent Atlantian Oceania footballing nations. For those two nations to be the finalists from the most recent AOCAF competition, he explained is, "A great boon for the new Zongguoese national team program."

While both Starblaydia and Bazalonia have offered assistance, the Minister has yet to come to a concrete decision on how to proceed. However, he has expressed interest in a potential joint-effort involving both nations. As of this writing, there were no plans in place for a professional league, though collegiate leagues have been tapped as desirable. To compensate for the lack of a domestic professional league, the Minister suggested also that Zongguoese players could gain experience playing in foreign nations' leagues.

As for the development of a national side program, the Minister proposed an idea that would involve both nations. He suggested that Starblaydia assist in development with varsity and youth player development, as discussed by Bazalonia. However, he also added that Bazalonia and Starblaydia could both assist in developing the collegiate leagues' structure, as well as helping arrange foreign team transfers for Zongguoese players.

In addition, the Minister has offered to send two provisional national sides, one to each nation. A series of matches against Starblaydi sides, including the national and U-21 sides, he explained, would be particularly desirable. A similar series would be desirable in Bazalonia as well. These series of matches would, ideally, take place in Starblaydia and Bazalonia as well, with none taking place within the Empire.

As proper faciliities for international matches do not currently exist in Zongguo, it would be improper for such experienced sides to put up with primarily high school pitches.

Ultimately, the best players from each of the two national sides will be chosen for the official national side. This side will be the World Cup/Baptism of Fire side. A junior team will be selected later for competing in the AOCAF tournament. That's the plan, anyway.
