Before History

Not much is known about the origin of the native Qutari people, we know that be an isolated group of islands a civilisation must have made craft to sail across the waters and travel a great distance to reach the islands. The most recent archeological finds indicate that the lastest that they must have reached the islands is over 300,000 years ago and nowhere in the world at this time has there been a sign of a civilisation that had the technology to build the craft to make the voyage, what makes it all the more intriuging is that the technology found at the finds indicates a very advanced civilisation for the time. Ancient Qutari myths tell of a great civilisation forced to leave thier homeland because of the ancient gods anger which was so great that they sunk the island they called home. This strikes with the tale of Atlantis told among many other places giving this myth a much greater chance of being true, although some say that the story of Atlantis just ended up here too and that is was adapted.

Ancient Qutari History

It appears that in ancient times there was a real divide between the four islands, and were in fact four different nations. The North Island, known in ancient times as Aρκτος was the most war-like with a lot of ancient artifacts found indicating that the social lives of people was geared towards become soldiers, even the women. The South, West and East Islands, known in ancient times as Nότος, Εσπέρα and Ηλίου, were allied against Aρκτος. An early book written by an unkown general on the Nότος side, Θάλασσα Πόλεμος, recounts the many sea battles between the warring nations.

It seems that the ancient war was mainly fought on sea, and the war was written about by many authors. The most realiable by Ομηρος and Ιδομένη tell of a great battle at Ιλιάς χώρα in Aρκτος which ended the war that had gone on for centuries Aρκτος was defeated. But with a nation of warriors how could you say that they were truly defeated, but fate dealt a hand for peace, a week after the battle at Ιλιάς χώρα according to Ιδομένη; "There was an almighty shuddering, and an earth shattering roar that filled the land of Aρκτος, and there was a red fury unleased upon the island". What we can gleam from this and rock records is that there was a major volcanic eruption of the now extinct volcano Mount. Θάνάτος. The mountain itself was blown apart by the sheer magnatude of the eruption.

In this time of crisis for the people of Aρκτος and in this dark time the wise rulers of Nότος, Εσπέρα and Ηλίου allowed the people of Aρκτος to shelter in their lands. After what appears to be a mouth long eruption of Mount. Θάνάτος the people of Aρκτος move back to their island but with a great debt towards Nότος, Εσπέρα and Ηλίου.

After this there has been an uninterrupted period of peace up until the present day. Thanks to this long period of peace The Islands of Qutar has managed to move forward in Mathematics, Science and Philosophy. It has been said that War speeds up the development of technology, but although it may have been a slower journey not one drop of blood was split by its creations.
