Capital city: Rening

Government type: Unitary parliamentary democracy under a constitutional monarchy
  • Head of state: HM the Queen of Lahoa, Ziane IV
  • Head of government: The Rt. Hon. Premier of Lahoa, Ngunni Átxi

Administrative divisions: 12 provinces (aci[r]), subdivided into counties (mýpuaz[er]) and then municipalities (ngav[er]). Each have some power afforded to them (and so the country is de facto a federal state), but all powers are delegated by the central government.

Major cities: Izyhíqan (pop. 2,615,159, 2012 census), Zaow (pop. 1,158,554, 2012 census), Rening (pop. 659,120, 2012 census), Ewvu (pop. 412,105, 2012 census), Varúxo (pop. 394,570, 2012 census).

Formation:
  • House Fatótzen: 1322
  • Unification of Lahoa: 3 November 1666 (celebrated as a national holiday)
  • Republican Interregnum: 15 March 1903
  • Reinstatement of monarchy: 3 April 1932 (celebrated as a national holiday)

Legal system: Common law.

Suffrage: Universal to all citizens 18 years or older.

The monarch: Not even nominally an executive officer. A purely ceremonial figurehead.

The Premier: The chief executive officer, whose powers are shared with the Cabinet that he appoints with Senate approval. He himself is elected by the House of Commons after that body is elected, and appointed by the outgoing President.

The Parliament: A bicameral legislature. Termed Qrajl.
  • The House of Commons: Lower house. Termed Éizez Ukhabars ("House of the People"). 138 members (one per county), elected by county-wide instant-runoff voting for four-year terms.
  • The Senate: Upper house. Termed Éizez Mijotu ("House of the Monarch"), a term dating back to before the unification for the monarch's court. 100 members, elected by party-list proportional representation with modified D'Hondt method for four-year terms.

The judicial branch:
  • The Supreme Court: Tries constitutional matters, and is the highest court of appeal. Termed Aswé Eqapese ("Court of Supremacy"). Thirteen members (1 per province and an additional Justice for Rening); provincial members appointed by provincial governments, Rening justice appointed by Premier for life terms. Appointments confirmed by special council of judges from lower levels, randomly selected by the Ministry of Justice.
  • The Court of Justice: Tries civil and criminal matters; rulings can be appealed to the Supreme Court. Termed Aswé Bálúzée. Five members; members appointed by Premier, appointments confirmed by similar council of judges for life terms.

Political parties:
  • Government: Progressive Party (social liberalism, progressivism); Socialist Party (democratic socialism, green socialism); Greens of Lahoa (green liberalism, social liberalism). 78 members (35 Progressive, 31 Socialist, 12 Greens) in House of Commons, 49 members (22 Progressive, 19 Socialist, 8 Greens) in Senate.
  • Opposition: Conservative Party (social conservatism, fiscal conservatism); New Liberal Party (progressive conservatism, libertarianism); Lahoans for Lahoa (national conservatism, ethnic nationalism); 2 independents. 60 members (32 Conservative, 20 New Liberal, 8 for Lahoa) in House of Commons, 51 members (22 Conservative, 21 New Liberal, 6 for Lahoa, 2 independents) in Senate.
